Shortened fields generate a short version of the text which tries to be as close as possible to the way humans shorten names/words.
As a general rule, it attempts to catch the first the beginning of the word until the first non-vowel after the 1st syllable (included).
However, since many languages have special combinations of characters that are less likely to be ever split when shortening a word, you can set such Sticky Character Combos in the Settings tab.
This will force the shortening algorithm to keep the non-vowels character combo inside the shortened version.
